Welcome to Memory Lane
Memory Lane is our nostalgia journal – a cosy corner of Toy & Hobby where we revisit the catalogues, toy aisles, and hobby shelves that shaped our childhoods. Think Sunday afternoons with the Argos catalogue, circling dream toys with a biro and planning birthday lists months in advance.
Here you’ll find deep dives into old catalogue pages, “Remember These?” features on specific toys, and season-by-season trips through the Argos catalogues from the 1970s, 80s and (maybe) the early 90s. Each year will eventually have both a Spring/Summer and an Autumn/Winter feature.

🚀 Live now – Spring/Summer 1980
To kick things off, we’re starting in 1980 – peak golden age of plastic, batteries-not-included, and “Ask an adult to help you with the stickers.” This feature zooms in on a toy page from the Spring/Summer Argos catalogue and picks apart every console, doll, train set and weird plastic contraption on it.
It’s part toy review, part memory dump, and part love letter to the pages we practically wore holes in as kids.
Remember These: 1980 Spring/Summer →(Autumn/Winter 1980 and more years will join the party soon – watch for the stars turning into rockets.)
